1. Decide what it is that you want to create. How will you know when you've got it? What will you see
, hear, and feel? Is it achievable by you or will you need assistance? What will achieving this outcome mean to you? Does it feel right for all parts of your life? When do you want it? Take time to consider these questions. Make your goals big and expansive. Feel the excitement and passion they arouse in you. Write down the your goals.

2. Consistently focus on what you want, not what you don't want. People are often keen to tell you what they don't want in life and struggle with focussing on what they do want. The danger with this is that you are regularly thinking about what you don't want in your life. There is a part of your brain that is known as the Reticular Activating System, and it is actively looking for what you focus on. For example, if you were enter a car show room and choose a car in a particular green
, it is likely that when you leave the show room you would see that colour car everywhere. So, by raising your awareness of what you want, you begin to get more of what you are focussing on. So begin consistently thinking about what you do want. Keep a watch on what thoughts are going through your head. Let go of those that don't make you feel good. (You will also notice that this naturally lifts your mood.)

3. Be flexible. The more flexible your attitude, the more chance you have of reaching your goal. If one thing isn't working, then look for another way. Doing more of what doesn't work
, won't help you get the result you want. The ?how tos? will appear if you keep looking and hence learning. All experience is of value. Practice being flexible in everyday things to build up the habit. Go to places you would previously have avoided. Taste new foods. Be open to meeting new people, listen to different music, read new subject matter. Stay open. Surf the internet.

4. Stay focussed. It can be easy to be distracted. Once you begin to tap into your creativity in order to create more of what you want, you are unleashing that dynamic creative force! Ideas will keep coming up! To keep yourself on track, coach yourself
, by reminding yourself of what this goal will mean to you. How will your life be different when you have achieved this goal? See that picture you created, feel the feelings and listen to what answer comes up for you. Any time you are thinking, listening or speaking you are focusing. Choose your thoughts carefully. Listen to what comes out of your mouth. Remember: you get more of what you focus on.

5. Choose your peers carefully. Look at the people with whom you are spending time. Are they like-minded? Are they proactive achievers? Do you admire the way they live their lives? Do they support you in moving forwards in your life, or are they quick to point out the negatives or put you down? Are they generally positive people? Are they happy to share your successes? Do you feel good in their company? If the answers reflect that these relationships are not working in your favour, decide what you are going to do about this.

Notice how like attracts like
, and once you are following all of the above, more of what you want magically appears in your life. Of course, you will only know, by implementing these five steps. Good luck.

No matter how technically or rhythmically skilled you are, without a quality snare drum your sound will irredeemably suffer. The snare drum is the cornerstone of a beat and is used in every single genre of music. Ideally all the drums in your kit will be of at least a reasonable quality
, but if there's one drum you need to prioritize it's the snare! Here are some important tips to finding a good one.

First thing is you'll hear about certain brands that are good and you'll be tempted to buy a reliable name. This may or may not be good. What's likely is you'll buy a drum that's good for somebody, but not for you. Like with any instrument, you need to take into consideration what you're looking for. There are many considerations to weigh: the diameter, the material of the head, the depth
, the material the actual snare if made of, and there's plenty more. Wooden materials give you a mellow sound which is suitable for jazz, whereas bronze or brass is a bit tinnier. Complicating things further, different types of wood provide different sounds, and sometimes metal and wooden materials are combined on one drum. One thing you can do is look into the kind of snare your favourite drummer uses
, or a musician whose sound you want to emulate. The important thing is to take into mind what you're looking for from the instrument, not merely a drum that's popular.

Of course all this does not take into consideration price or level of expertise. If you're just starting out you'll require a lot less. You'll want a solid, playable instrument and not a toy, but you won't necessarily be gauging the depth of your drum to listen to the way it articulates. The best thing to do as a beginner is to look at different snares in your price range and sample them all. Remember, the snare is a good place to invest in your kit because it's used so frequently. This is not the place for parsimony! If you're more experienced and you're buying your second snare you'll probably know specifically what else you're looking for. Take time to buy the right one: you already have the "wrong" one now and you might as well be patient and thorough in your search to make sure that your second snare is the last one you'll need to buy for a long time. No drum lasts forever
, especially ones that take such a beating, but you want to make sure that your new cornerstone of your set gives you a much improved sound.

One thing to keep in mind is the used options. Be careful, because as mentioned above drums take a beating, but there's good deals you can get on terrific drums that still have life in them. Just be sure.
